Best Wishes For the Season…

No matter what our beliefs, things are a bit different this time of year. The things we see, the things we hear and the things we do are all a little different.

People are more likely to smile at a stranger; gaze at decorations and twinkling trees; say something nice to people they work with; or cut someone a bit of slack so they can attend a school presentation.

Then, there’s the increased load we all carry as we buy gifts, go to parties and prepare (mentally and physically) for changes to our routines. Perhaps holidays? Laughing with friends and family? Or just watching the telly as the sounds of summer sport fill the house.

This year I am looking forward to January and the tennis – somehow it makes the sights, sounds and feelings of Christmas last longer.

I wish you and your family a wonderful season and all the good things you’d wish for yourselves in 2011.

Merry Christmas…  Diane

When The Bloom Of The Jacaranda Tree Is Here, Christmas Time Is Near’ *

Hiya,

As I was coming onto the bridge yesterday morning I spied the first  jacaranda bloom of the year – does anyone know why that is always the first one?  Just to the left as you come up to the toll booths going  south?

Anyway, I have a personal thing that, as the song says, “When the Jacaranda blooms Xmas time is near”… so I broke out the Xmas playlist and sang a few favs.  (You have permission to remind me of my enthusiasm and excitement any time I grizzle about Xmas music in the next couple of months – but for now its all good).

Hope your day is full of hope and excitement,   Diane

Working Towards My Top Job!

Working Towards My Top Job!  is a workshop being held on Friday 26th November 2010 by the Sydney chapter of the PMI’s Special Interest Group – Women In Project Management.  It should be of special interest to you if you have been asking yourself, where to next from here?

It’s an interactive workshop and I’ll be one of the guest speakers, so mark it in your diary. It should be fun!

Sending You A Smile

A lady I grew to love and admire, introduced me to the sunflower many years ago and I’ve had an affinity with them ever since.  You see, when they are growing they literally orient their faces towards the sun, constantly moving and changing in an effort to stay in the light. When they are fully grown they become rigid, no longer following the sun. Soon after, they…… well, it’s not good.

It’s so easy to get diverted by the not so good, to become rigid and unhappy.

Life is simply better when I stay young and orient towards the good stuff.

I hope you are smiling today!

Diane

DINOSAURS OR NANOTECHNOLOGY – WHICH ONE WILL WE BE IN 2020?

Doltone House, located on the Darling Harbour Wharf in Sydney, was the venue for the PMAA’s NSW Chapter Day Forum 2010. The forum focused on the future – the year 2020 to be precise.

I was delighted to take part, and as one of the afternoon’s key speakers, my presentation was entitled, “Dinosaurs Or Nanotechnology – Which One Will We Be In 2020?”.   read more

AOM 2010 Montreal (Final Session)

Hi again,

AOM 2010 has drawn to a close, but as I said yesterday there was one more session I hadn’t commented on. Its title was “Project Success” and as tired as I was, and as reluctant as I was to potentially go to a downer after the high of the last session, I felt I had to go. read more

AOM 2010 Montreal (Day Three)

Hi again,  Day Three of the AOM 2010 conference.   Well I was excited.
